One day, Linus (the main character) woke up in his flat in the city of Aachen. He was attending the Couven Gymnasium and was at Abitur level. He went to school as he normally does, puts his bread in his backpack, and takes bus 43 to Laurensberg. Once he arrived around 7:20 a.m., barely anyone was at school, which makes sense because he was early. He goes to his classroom's door and waits for his classmates to arrive, and for his teacher. The first lesson is Biology. But nobody arrives, which he didn’t really realize until the bell rang.
He decided to walk around the building to find the Couven Administration. Not even the principal, media staff, or the secretariat were present. And even the building supervisor was gone. This raised the question of why the building was even open without them. Everyone was gone. The teachers and the students. What the fuck happened?
It became obvious that he should just leave, because he had technically finished school since it was the last day, a Friday. But he also wanted to find out why Couven Gymnasium was suddenly abandoned.
At first, he thought that the Support Association had just terminated Couven Gymnasium so the school couldn’t be funded anymore. But why did they do it?
There was this weird spirit. Linus could sense it. The weird spirit. The school smelled like weird spirit. He just called it a day, a little bit freaked out, and left school forever.
He would start out by (technically) finishing his Abitur and school, then decided to form the In Utero-tone-inspired band “HalfenBand.” Their self-titled debut album was successful in the music industry.
However, when it came to writing their new album Starry Nights, he decided to write a song titled Last Student, which was a reflection on how weird it felt when he visited school on that Friday. He released the song as the lead single from Starry Nights, but everything started to become, what Linus called, freaky.
While touring, for example, Michael, the drummer for HalfenBand, lost his drum kit. Once he found it, it was melted to the ground. Or Linus’s pedal settings were completely messed up, especially on his Small Clone.
He knew it couldn’t just be pranksters. It had to be something else.
After being backstage at an MTV concert, Linus decided to look at the CCTV footage. During rehearsals, the pedal settings and the tuning of both the bass and guitar had been completely messed up.
He couldn’t believe his eyes: a completely black-dressed figure, 6’7” tall, guy or gal, with a black fedora and what looked like a plague mask. He knew it was freaky.
He pointed it out to the MTV employees, and a police investigation was started against this figure, the one Linus called “MTH,” short for More Than Human.
As it turns out, MTH had been messing with bands. Not just HalfenBand, but also Metallica, Slipknot, Foo Fighters, and even artists like “Weird Al” Yankovic. And all of them said the same thing: the character is more than human.
